First Aid tips Everyone should know

Prevention is always better than cure in every aspect of our lives. We may have to overcome situations such as an uncertain accident or calamity; therefore, you should be prepared to deal with such situations. For that, you should have basic knowledge about first aid. It will also provide some safety for the body against injuries and ailments. You can visit the best hospital in Dubai to get more knowledge on first aid.

The benefits of First Aid

  • Creates progressive safety

  • Saves life

  • Enables primary pain-relieving care

  • Reduces fear of accident

  • Improves protection against disease spread

  • Helps to boost life security

  • Helps to cope with emergency situation

  • Builds personal safeguard

Here are some of the first aid tips that you should know:

Treat cuts and scrapes

Blood is vital for survival. If you are bleeding, then try to prevent it before anything serious happen. In such cases, you should find a bandage or cloth. You should apply pressure on the wounded area for 20 to 30 minutes before cleaning it. After that, you should apply antiseptic and then wrap a bandage. Visit the best hospital in Dubai if the wound is severe. In case of nose bleeding, you must press a cloth against the nostril until the bleeding stops. Always remember that our body can heal itself against small cuts and scrapes.

Minor burn treatment

To prevent sunburn, you should always wear sunscreen while exposed to the sun. In case of minor burns, you should rinse the affected area with cold water for several minutes and apply a sterile dressing. If the condition gets worse, seek a doctor immediately. Keep an ice bag pack and ointment that treat burn at home regularly. These are the components that can treat a burn: vinegar, salt, tea bags, ice pack, baking soda and aloe vera.

Sprain treatment

You can experience a sprain at any point in your life. But, most sprains can be healed over time. If you are injured then you can prevent minor swelling by applying ice to it. The ice will reduce the pain and blood flow in blood flow in the affected area.

If you are suffering from an injured limb, then you can also apply ice to it. The ice must be wrapped in a bag or cloth. Then, compress the limb with the ice and keep repeating the process several times. Avoid wrapping the injured region so tightly that it can restrict blood flow. You should not put weight on the affected area.

Response to allergic reactions

Many people have allergic reactions to certain food or drugs. The worst form of allergic reaction is to have anaphylaxis. If you have any allergic reaction, then keep an EpiPen with you. It is a small and ergonomic needle that’s used to inject epinephrine (adrenaline) to treat allergic reactions and control them. If you are suffering from an allergic reaction:

  • Wear loose clothes that don’t cause problems while breathing

  • Lie down on the back and keep the feet elevated 12 inches

  • Avoid eating or drinking

  • Learn to use an EpiPen

  • After injecting an EpiPen, wait 5-15 minutes. You may have to take a second dose if one is not enough.
