Accreditation Canada — Diamond Level Status

Aster Hospitals Dubai holds Diamond Level Status from Accreditation Canada, the highest tier the programme awards, covering the Mankhool and Al Qusais hospitals and the Aster Day Surgery Centre in Mankhool. Accreditation Canada carried out its assessment of the three units in December 2019, examining governance, patient safety, clinical quality and continuous improvement against internationally recognised standards.

Diamond Level Status is maintained through ongoing reassessment and is awarded to organisations demonstrating sustained compliance with internationally recognised standards while continuously improving quality and patient safety.

Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC)

Several Aster Hospitals Dubai facilities, along with the group's laboratories, are accredited by the Emirates International Accreditation Centre, the UAE government body responsible for assessing conformity assessment bodies and healthcare laboratories against internationally recognised standards. This is a separate, government-run check on technical competence and quality management, distinct from the clinical accreditations above.

Global Medical Excellence Award — Dubai Quality Group

Aster Hospitals Al Qusais received Silver Category recognition in the Hospitals category at the 2nd Global Medical Excellence Award, run by the Dubai Quality Group under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The award recognised the hospital's patient care and its contribution to healthcare innovation in Dubai.

Dubai Quality Appreciation Award

The Dubai Quality Appreciation Award recognises organisations demonstrating excellence in quality management, innovation, and service delivery. Aster Hospitals Mankhool received this recognition for its commitment to improving clinical performance and collaborative patient care.

"In order to understand the needs of our patients, the core of our delivery service mechanism has been innovation and research to come up with solutions that would effectively address those needs, while adopting the latest technology and upgrading our state-of-the-art medical facilities. This award is an acknowledgement of our quest for quality of the highest standard across all aspects of the hospital's operations."

International Recognition: Newsweek, Statista, AHPI and Others

Aster Hospitals Dubai's Mankhool and Al Qusais units have each been named independently by Newsweek, Statista and the Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI). In Newsweek's World's Best Hospitals 2026 list, compiled with Statista, Aster Hospitals Mankhool climbed to 4th place in the UAE and Aster Hospitals Al Qusais to 10th, up from 5th and 14th respectively in 2024.

Aster DM Healthcare has stated that the wider adoption of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) formed part of its quality-improvement initiatives during this period. Both hospitals also feature in Newsweek's 2026 Best Specialised Hospitals Middle East list: Al Qusais for neurology and Mankhool for orthopaedics.

Aster Hospitals Mankhool was also the first private hospital in Dubai to achieve HIMSS EMRAM Stage 6, a digital health maturity benchmark achieved by a limited number of hospitals in the region. This recognition complements the Arab Federation's Platinum rating for Digital Health & Technology Innovation.

Why Independent Accreditation Matters When Choosing a Hospital

Each of the accreditation organisations above audits a different part of the healthcare operation, i.e., clinical quality, safety, digital record-keeping, patient experience, and laboratory competence, using its own inspectors and its own criteria. When several unrelated organisations reach similar conclusions about the same hospital, that provides stronger evidence than any single recognition alone; moreover, it gives patients a way to check the claims themselves rather than relying solely on the hospital’s own claims.

Frequently Asked Questions

What accreditations and awards does Aster Hospitals Dubai hold?

Aster Hospitals Dubai holds Diamond Level Accreditation from Accreditation Canada, Gold-level recognition under the Arab Hospitals Federation's Gold Initiative Certificate, EIAC accreditation, the Dubai Quality Appreciation Award, and international recognition through Newsweek and Statista rankings.

What is the Arab Federation Gold Initiative Certificate?

It's a healthcare excellence certification from the Arab Hospitals Federation, assessing institutions across eight dimensions, including quality, patient safety, sustainability, digital innovation and patient experience. In its 7th Edition, 323 institutions applied and 45 earned recognition; Aster DM Healthcare achieved Gold level and was ranked first in the Arab region for Sustainability, Hospital Design & Resilience.

Has Aster Hospitals Dubai received international hospital rankings?

Yes. In Newsweek's World's Best Hospitals 2026 list, Aster Hospitals Mankhool ranked 4th in the UAE, up from 5th in 2024, and Aster Hospitals Al Qusais ranked 10th, up from 16th. Both hospitals also appear in Newsweek's 2026 Best Specialised Hospitals Middle East list, and hold a 4-star Statista Global Hospital Rating.

What does this level of accreditation mean for patients?

Independent accreditations show that recognised external organisations, not the hospital itself, have assessed areas such as patient safety, governance, quality improvement, laboratory standards and digital maturity. Together, they provide patients with greater confidence in the hospital's commitment to maintaining recognised standards of care.

Which Aster Hospitals Dubai facilities are covered by the Diamond Level accreditation?

Three units specifically: Aster Hospitals Mankhool, Aster Hospitals Al Qusais, and the Aster Day Surgery Centre in Mankhool have achieved the Accreditation Canada Diamond Level Status. Other Aster Group facilities in the UAE carry their own separate accreditations and awards, which is why it's worth checking which specific unit an accreditation applies to rather than assuming it covers the whole group.

What's the difference between a hospital accreditation and a hospital award?

An accreditation is a formal, standards-based assessment carried out on a fixed cycle by a recognised body. Accreditation Canada's Diamond status or EIAC accreditation, for example, and it can be withdrawn if standards slip. An award, such as the Dubai Quality Appreciation Award or a Newsweek ranking, recognises a specific achievement, project or period of performance rather than certifying an ongoing standard.

How often are hospital accreditations reassessed or renewed?

Accreditation isn't a one-time certificate. Programmes such as Accreditation Canada's Qmentum run on a recurring cycle, with hospitals re-surveyed periodically to confirm they still meet the standard rather than simply having met it once. This is one reason why the “Last updated” date at the top of this page matters: accreditations and rankings shift over time, so it's worth checking a hospital's current status directly with the accrediting body rather than relying on older claims.

What is the Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC), and why does it matter?

EIAC is the UAE government body that accredits conformity assessment bodies and healthcare laboratories, checking technical competence against internationally recognised standards. It's a government-run check rather than an award from a private or international body, which makes it a useful independent cross-reference alongside Accreditation Canada and the Arab Federation certification, three different types of scrutiny from three different kinds of authority.
