World obesity day

On this occasion will speak about obesity 

During pandemic many of us are struggling with sudden extra weight gain and so the related conditions including type 2 diabetes and hypertension. 

Obesity is defined as having a BMI of 30 or more; according to centres of disease control and prevention. 
But BMI isn’t everything. It has some limitations as a metric. 
Factors such as age, gender, ethnicity and muscle mass can influence the relationship between BMI and body fat. 

How does obesity affect our body 

People living with obesity have higher chances of developing a range of serious medical issues. 
The health problems affect nearly every part of the body; including brain, blood vessel, heart, liver, gall bladder, bones and joints. 

Here are some risks which might affect on our body: 

  • Risk of brain stroke 

  • Increase risk of heart attack 

  • Liver disease 

  • Cancer 

  • Gall bladder problems leads to surgery 

  • Type 2 diabetes 

  • Weaken muscle and bones 

  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease 

  • Skin fold rashes 

  • Kidney failure 

  • Infertility 

  • Joint pain 

  • Sleep apnea 

  • Increase Depression 

Here are some tips for controlling weight gain and to adopt healthy lifestyle.

  • Eat plenty of dietary fibre – fibre gives satiety and good control on portion sizes and so calories. 

  • Consume less processed and sugary food.- many processed food are high in fat,salt and sugar; which encourage overeating. 

  •  

  • Focus on healthy fat -fat comes from healthy nut and seeds, fatty fish, polyunsaturated vegetable cooking oil. This modifications can improve cholesterol levels and reduce obesity risk. 

  •  

  • Eat less salt – watch out extra sodium comes in your food. Limitation to salt is always best. 

  •  

  • Healthy and informed choice while at grocery- makes much difference. Reading labels are very good idea to know your food are really healthy or just claimed so. 

  •  

  • Incorporate weight training – as important as aerobic activity in weight maintenance. 

  •  

  • Focus on reducing stress and motivate positive vibes. 

  •  

  • Stay hydrated – dehydration is route cause of weight gain and obesity. 

  •  

  • GI health – guts are mirror of your body and so its very important to seek help in case needed. 

  •  

Seek a professional help for the guidance and stay far from crash diets.
