Physiotherapy

An individual's physical movement is paramount for healthy living. But there are injuries, diseases, hazardous situations or environmental factors that might lead to a troubled functioning of one’s muscles, tissues, and other bodily mechanisms. Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation is the division of healthcare dedicated to curing/diagnosing chronic or acute pain, arthritis, tissue injuries, cartilage damage, and physical impairments typically of endocrinological, musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiopulmonary origins. In certain cases, physiotherapy actually aids other divisions of healthcare such as general medicine, orthopaedics, etc. A physiotherapist might study the patient’s previous medical records and do a thorough examination to determine the right treatment strategy. This particular department majorly deals with functionalities related to an individual’s movement. At Aster Hospitals, the team comprises highly experienced and successful physiotherapists. With Aster Hospital’s industry-leading array of healthcare facilities, it just makes it easier to conduct cross-department treatments as well. A home for high-quality healthcare with a strong focus on women's and children's health, Aster Hospitals through its wide range of physiotherapy services is striving each day to make lives across the world healthier, and fitter. If you are looking for the best physiotherapist in Dubai, look no further than Aster Hospitals.

About Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation:

In general scenarios, sometimes physiotherapy is recommended even to those without any abnormalities. In such cases, the intent is to enhance an individual’s quality of life and ease of physical movement. Especially those in professions including physical tension such as gymnasts, acrobats, sportsmen, actors etc., have to undergo routine physiotherapy sessions. While in case of disorders/pain arising out of abnormal factors, the doctor will need a detailed patient review before boiling down to the right physiotherapy strategy. A regular physiotherapy regime may include specific exercises, movement routines, and rarely some medication. The doctor will employ a number of ways to get the desired result, such as prescribing or supporting with certain exercises, manual therapy and/or manipulation, or mechanical means such as electro physical modalities including orthoses, sound waves, assistive devices, heat, cold, electricity and other interventions. In the end, this branch of medicine is one that continuously aims to better an individual’s life by optimizing their bodily functions and movement. PTs also ensure that in cases such as ageing, disease, environmental factors, and injury where the disorder might lead to loss of mobility, the patient employs the correct physiotherapy regime and wellness driven programs.

The discipline of Physiotherapy houses multiple specialties:

  • Musculoskeletal
  • Orthopedics
  • Cardiopulmonary
  • Neurology
  • Endocrinology
  • Sports medicine
  • Geriatrics
  • Pediatrics
  • Women's health,
  • Wound care
  • Electromyography
  • Physical rehabilitation

Under this discipline, one rapidly growing branch of healthcare is Neurological Rehabilitation. This particular field of medicine deals with the cognitive and sensory functionalities of a human being. In instances where a disease or allergy or wound might damage the neurocognitive functioning, a PT will work to reprogram the existing neural pathways and/or try to train a new pathway. There are 3 most commonly curable abnormalities that are taken care of by this branch:

  • Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Concussion
  • Spinal cord injury

Services:

Physical therapy or physiotherapy (often abbreviated to PT) is the speciality that, by using mechanical force and movements, remediates impairments and promotes mobility, function, and quality of life through examination, diagnosis, prognosis, and physical intervention. We also provide physical recovery services to help repair and renew damaged and exhausted joints/muscles.
