Gastroenterology And Hepatology

Gastroenterology is a subspecialty within healthcare science that aims to diagnose and cure digestive system related abnormalities. There are diseases that might affect the gastrointestinal tract which is the entire pathway from the mouth to the anus, including the organs in between, along the alimentary canal. Physicians who are trained in this domain are called gastroenterologists. A regular treatment regime may include a number of tests to determine and examine the patient's condition. Often these doctors may even require aid from a nutritionist in order to provide a complete validation of the treatment. A subspecialty of this department, Hepatology (Also known as hepatobiliary medicine), focuses on the study of various organs that make up the digestive system such as the pancreas, liver, and biliary tree. Another sub-speciality, Proctology, emphasizes the function of the excretory organs such as the anus and the rectum.
